Marquis Eyes Memory Care Expansion at Hope Village

Marquis Companies is seeking to expand its assisted living facility at Hope Village with a new, secure wing specializing in memory care for up to 24 residents. If approved, the one-story, 13,450-square-foot wing will be built onto the southeastern corner of the existing facility.

The new wing will provide specialized care for residents with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, who are not able to perform everyday activities and may need assistance with tasks such as grooming, dressing, and eating. Residents of the new wing will be seniors will be cared for in a secure setting that offers a mix of private and semi-private rooms, with common areas for activities, recreation and dining as well as administrative areas and laundry.

The proposed plans also include the realignment of the existing southernmost entrance road from South Ivy Street, the addition of 20 new parking spaces to help accommodate the new wing, and landscaping and sidewalk improvements.

The Planning Commission will consider the addition at their meeting on Sept. 24. Also on the agenda for that night: a request by ICON Construction & Development to annex into the city 9.6 acres of undeveloped land on North Pine Street in northeast Canby, , and a proposal to subdivide a 0.4 acre, high-density residential (R-2) lot on South Pine Street into a six-unit townhome development

The Planning Commission meets every second and fourth Monday in the Council Chambers of Canby City Hall, 222 NE 2nd Ave., at 7 p.m. Meetings are open to the public and are also broadcast live on CTV Channel 5.
