Pauls, who spent 10 years as a teacher and instructional specialist at Ninety-One before stepping up to his new role, has been named the permanent principal of the Canby School District-operated K-8 school in the Whiskey Hill area of Hubbard, Communications Director Kristen Wohlers announced Wednesday.

She also revealed that Mariah Vondrachek, who replaced Pauls as the school’s instructional specialist, will remain in her role.

“While Ninety-One has seen a number of changes over the last couple of years, as a district, we are grateful for the steady leadership Andy Pauls and Mariah Vondrachek have provided,” Wohlers said.

“We are excited to announce to you that their positions will no longer be on an interim basis, which means Mr. Pauls will permanently take on the role of principal and Ms. Vondrachek will continue to serve as Instructional Specialist. We have faith in them to lead the Ninety-One community well!”

Pauls holds a master’s in teaching and has worked at the primary level for 12 years as a teacher and instructional specialist. He taught in Salem and at Carus before spending the last 10 years at Ninety-One.

Vondrachek has a master’s in mathematics education and is National Board Certified in early childhood education. She has been teaching for 11 years, six of them at Ninety-One.

“The Ninety-One community is a special place,” Pauls said. “I really enjoyed my 10 years here as a teacher and am now excited to partner with students, staff, and the community in this role.

“I am passionate about helping all students reach their potential and will work hard to continue to build relationships with all stakeholders.”
