BBQ Barn Opens in Estacada, Bringing Slow-Smoked Flavor and Community Spirit

A new dining destination has arrived in Estacada, and its motto says it all: “Low and Slow.” With tender, slow-smoked barbecue at the center of its menu, the BBQ Barn officially opened its doors on Wednesday, Nov. 12, celebrated by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and enthusiastic community turnout.

A Family-Centered Vision

The restaurant is the creation of Owner Steve Locke, who also runs Locke Construction. For him, the mission goes beyond great food.

“Life is about more than BBQ. It’s about faith, family and farming,” Locke said. “This all happened thanks to good old-fashioned hard work and lots of support.”

Located at 519 S.W. Beech Road, the BBQ Barn is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., offering a warm, comfortable place where families and friends can gather for a hearty meal.

Community Welcomes a New Gathering Spot

Estacada Mayor Sean Drinkwine praised the team behind the restaurant, emphasizing its importance to the community.

“We are fortunate to have this in our city — a family restaurant you can sit down at and have a great meal and conversation,” he said. “I’m proud of what this team has accomplished.”

A Menu Built for Barbecue Lovers

Guests can dig into a wide selection of smoked classics, including:

  • Brisket

  • Ribs

  • Pulled pork

  • Chicken

  • Sausage links

Meals are available as sandwiches, bowls, or à la carte. Popular sides include mac and cheese, jo jo’s, baked beans, potato salad, corn on the cob, chips and coleslaw. For those who want to try a little of everything, a sampler platter is available. Dessert options range from banana cream pudding to freshly baked cookies.

Restoring a Long-Vacant Building

Transforming the space was a major undertaking. The building had once housed several restaurants but had sat vacant and deteriorating for years. Instead of tearing it down, Locke and his team committed to restoring it.

The exterior reflects a classic barn-style aesthetic, while the interior features wood accents and materials repurposed from local barns. The result is a bright, spacious dining area with plenty of seating, plus a private back room available for events.

Locke said he felt drawn to revive the property. “I was driving by this place, vacant and run down for so long, and I had a sense something was happening,” he said. “God led me to this place and business. I wanted to build it back up like the lord did for me.”

Convenience for Busy Customers

While the BBQ Barn embraces slow cooking, the service doesn’t have to be slow. Customers can order online at bbqbarntogo.com, and the restaurant also offers a convenient drive-thru option.

As the grand opening wrapped up, Locke shared his gratitude with the crowd.

“I love you all and I thank you for being a part of BBQ Barn,” he said.
